In High School I fell in love with painting in watercolors. I remember going around the school and painting the buildings and barns nearby. For years, during my college studies, I pursued painting in watercolors. I studied with Erik Oback at San Jose Sate University. Since my retirement in 1998 I am painting full time and continue my studies with nationally known instructors including Mike Bailey, Katherine Chang Liu, Skip Lawerence and Donna Zagotta.
My watermedia paintings are evolving from the realistic to the semi-abstract. I paint in series with at least 20 full sheet paintings of any particular theme. The Palm Paintings, the Violin Series and the Artist Series (figurative) shown here are just a few of the full series. My current work is impressionistic and includes shapes, their edges, colors and textures in harmony. |
