In High School I fell in love with painting in watercolors. I remember going around the school and painting the buildings and barns nearby. For years, during my college studies, I pursued painting in watercolors. I studied with Erik Oback at San Jose Sate University. Since my retirement in 1998 I am painting full time and continue my studies with nationally known instructors including Mike Bailey, Skip Lawerence and Donna Zagotta.
My watermedia paintings are evolving from the realistic to the semi-abstract. I paint in series with at least 20 full sheet paintings of any particular theme. The Palm Paintings, the Violin Series and the Artist Series (figurative) shown here are just a few of the full series. My current work is impressionistic and includes shapes, their edges, colors and textures in harmony. |
